About Me

My background

I am a wife, mother of 2 beautiful children and an artist in all that I do.  My family and I bought a fixer upper in California and I would love to share our renovation process as we create our dream home. I hope you enjoy the designs, tips and home decor that I have to share with you along the road.

I have a BA in Fashion Merchandising, and I started my career as a visual display manager at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA. I loved that job. It was like getting paid to play life size Barbies, and I enjoyed every minute of taking ideas from my head and making  window and store displays. I then went on to earn a teaching credential and Master's Degree. I taught both Fashion and Interior design for several years.

How I got started

I have always LOVED art and all of its many forms. That said, as a 5 year old girl I began to cut scraps of my mom's fabric, recycle the plastic pizza circles that keep the top of the pizza box from sticking to the cheese, and added cotton balls to make custom chairs for my dolls. By age 8 my mom taught me how to sew, and I began to make pillows and lamp shades to put my personal touch on my side of the room that I shared with my older sister. By the time I was 11, my mom let me paint a mural on the 8 foot sliding closet doors in my bedroom. It was of the Love Is... cartoons from the LA Times. The comics were my source of inspiration for most things at that time in life, and they still influence many of my color choices in my designs today.

My style

Style must make you smile, as I always think to myself as I plan out my rooms.

I style rooms just like I dress myself. My favorite outfit has always been jeans with a white or black top and a really cute pare of shoes, bag and jewelry. I let the base of the outfit stay neutral, and I change out all the accessories to keep it fresh, timeless and interesting.  I love neutrals with interesting pops of color or pattern through out a room. I think of pillows and lighting as the jewelry of the room while keeping the furniture classic in color. Upon occasion, just to keep things fun and interesting, I do enjoy one big statement piece. It can be a big piece of art or a bold colored sofa. It is that one piece that catches the eye and will make you smile every time you see it.
